 Starting out - Level 1 - UPDATED Alright... Seeing as how the leveling system and a few other things have changed, I think a simplified, revamped Day 1 tutorial is in order.
New players: Welcome to City of Decay!
Are you lost, confused, or bored without a sense of direction?? This forum post is the post for you!
So… you’ve signed up, clicked around the screen a little bit, and maybe you’ve gotten yourself into the jail or hospital at this point… what now? If you haven’t claimed your free starter pack from the City Streets area, you’ll have to wait a bit for jail/tent time to count down. READ THIS TUTORIAL!!
Objectives of the Game
You can make this game your own, really. Choose your own path or goals, but here are some basic objectives…
-Leveling (With the new leveling system, getting to the top isn’t too difficult.)
-Gaining game wealth, because wealth == power
-Player networking, gain friendships, meet people from different countries
-Game power: physical strength, faction leadership, player connections with others in the game, war abilities in factions
-If dedicated enough and like contributing to the game, find your way to working on game staff
Make money
-Vote daily (in the lower right sidebar, $500 and 2 uppers)
-Search the Abandoned Pharmacy daily for EXP and cash, have a few bandaids on hand.
-Get a job. Start off in McDaniels, and over time you can upgrade.
-Search the Military Ruins, but have some bandaids on hand.
-Sell your uppers on the ‘Upper Market’ for $500-$1000 each, they’ll sell quickly around those prices.
-You can also use energy in the ‘Shady Alleyway’ for cash, but energy is better for attacking.
-Mug rich, low-level players for cash. Go to City Streets>Survivors to see players. Read 'Start Leveling' before doing so.
Start Leveling
The higher your level is, the easier it is to make cash - and you gain access to other areas of the game.
-Go to City Streets>Shops>Weapon Stockpile and get yourself Dual Beretta Elites ($12,000) and a Leather Jacket ($3,500).
-Go to Your Items and equip them as your primary weapon/armor
-Use your first few Stat Points (top right) on strength
-Start attacking. Go to City Streets>Survivors and look at other players. The best ones to attack are ones that are inactive and several levels higher than you.
-HOSPITALIZING gives you the most exp.
-Wait for energy and health to refill, and repeat
Don’t get discouraged if you lose a couple of fights!
It may take a couple of tries to find good targets. Add good targets to your Black List (or Friends List, either one) for quick access.
What now?
*Update your player page photo
*Meet other players. Go to City Streets>Roamers to see whose been online today. Send them a line saying ‘Hi’
or ‘What’s up?’. Making friends with higher level players is the way to go, and you might be lucky and get some extra starter cash or weapons. Add new friends to your friends list.
*Get married. Doing this will help get you better housing and marriage crimes give you cash and uppers.
*Join a faction. Go to City Streets>Factions and look through to see factions to join. Some factions offer free weapons,training donkey, uppers and health benefits, protection, and leveling rewards. Joining faction crimes gains
cash, too.
*Register on the forums. Read up a bit, post any questions, or contribute to posts.
*Bring a friend. It helps to bring a friend into the game – compete in leveling, share weapons, split housing costs if married, attack each other for experience, send each other meds.
*Explore the site some more. Play some games in the City.
*Start SAVING MONEY for better housing/items/etc.
*Participate in contests on the site or in the forums.
